network drive issue

Hello everyone,

Im new here, a bit slow at windows and need some help!

I have a network here with 8 machines. One is my workstation and the other 7 are render-nodes for 3d graphics. I also use the nodes as storage. I am running XP64 with the latest updates on all machines. The machines are a workgroup, not a domain.

My problem is quite simple. I recently stripped everything to re-install windows on the workstation and have a clean-up. When setting up the network, I used shared folders instead of Map Network Drive.

Now my location names have changed which is confusing some of my applications. I would like to map a network drive to simulate an old network location.

Problem is, when I go into Tools>Map Network Drive.....it only lets me see the shared folders. I cant get to a hard drive and use that location. I need to create a mapped network drive with EXACTLY the same location name and path as before or I cant access any of my library of work.

Does that make sense?

I really would appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Thanks,

Tom.
