Malfunction of CD/DVD Burning Software

MALFUNCTION OF CD/DVD BURNING SOFTWARE

I have 2 CD-Roms, one internal (Memorex DVD+/-RW Dual-X1), and the other, a USB2.0-connected external CD-Rom (LITE-ON DVDRW SHW-160P6S; INOi DW 560U-1600 Double Layer External DVD Burner)

My computer is a Dell Dimension XPS T600, my operating system is WindowsXP Home, and my CD/DVD Burning Software is NTI CD& DVD-Maker-Gold, version 7.

My LITE-ON external DVD-Rom functions fine as a player and simple disc burner. Moreover, it shows as one of the 2 CD-Roms in the DISC INFO TOOLS window and in the source and target drive section of the COPY window of the NTI program.

Problem is that the NTI software seems to be "locked into" the internal Memorex CD-Rom and does not allow me to change the target drive to my external CD-Rom, thus prohibiting me from utilizing the double-layer burning capacity of the external LITE-ON drive, my very reason for purchasing said CD-Rom.

How can I rectify the problem?

I've never used this program, but I do suggest checking around in the settings somewhere. If not then the program probably just detects the first drive it finds (Which is the lower letter, the internal drive). You could try messing around and swap the drive letters, see if that helps :).
