How To Set Display Prog For MS Fax Console Archive?

I use MS Fax console for sending faxes from my machine and it works okay.

But it uses my installation of Paint Shop Pro 6 to display sent faxes when I want to look at them, check they went alright.

For some reason I'm getting exception errors from PSP6 when it tries to display a multipage fax.

the faxes have apparently been sent okay so the prob is probably in PSP6.

I'd like to set it for some other prog - I've got PSP11 for instance, which I don't use because it's cripplingly slow - and I suppose other things, such as MS viewer or something.

But I can't find where to change the default viewing device.

......... oh, oh.... I've just had a thought.... I've just got to change the file associations, right??

I'll go do it.

I'll leave the post stand as monument to my slow thinking (if change file assoc is right) or to prompt a reply telling me what to do if it is something else....

regards,

ab :)

I don't think that PSP is a good application to view faxes; use the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Now you are going to ask me what the program name is; I'm sorry, I don't know. Search Google for "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" and you will find the answer.

Yes, well I haven't changed the filename associations yet so I don't know for sure that's the fix. Not changed yet because I'm not sure what the filename extension is for the windows fax console fax archive files - .jpg? I'll find out by trying when I get some time to do it.

But that brings up the problem with your suggestion. IF filename extension association is the answer - then changing that association to the windows picture and fax viewer will affect every image file (of the same extension) that I want to look at. And I DON'T want anything but PSP looking at my files, generally.

Of course, if they use an extension '.fax' or somesuch then okay.

But otherwise we're right back to where I started - where's the place within the prog where I decide which prog is going to look at the images?
