Morgoe
Hi, first post.Somehow my computer has recently decided to hide all file extensions (.wav, .exe, etc.) and I want to get them back, but I don't seem to have a "folder options" thing like I should have.. not under "Tools" in the folder itself: and not under the Control Panel either. How can I access this, or at least get my file extensions back?As my profile says.. Windows XP Pro SP3 (Sony VAIO laptop), 2GB Ram, 2Ghz Duo Intel processor. Thanks
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Welcome to the Windows Forum. Can you try a System Restore to a date before the problem started?
Morgoe
The 'problem' has always been there afaik. I recently got a major virus and the file extensions got hidden when I managed to clear it up, but the 'folder options' has never been there, as I remember, and I've been using it for a good 6-7 months now, so a system restore is out of the question. Seshomaru Samma
TRY THIS:1. Go to Start >> RunType gpedit.msc and press Enter.2.User Configuration >> Administrative Templates >> Windows Components >> Windows Explorer.Look for the key named "Removes the Folder Options menu from the Tools Menu".if it's "enabled" set it to disable.ALTERNATIVELY:1. Go to Start >> RunType regedit.exe and press Enter.2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\Policies\Explorerfind "NoFolderOptions" and set it to

It was set to "Not configured" so I changed it to "Disabled" and now Folder Options is under "tools" and the Control Panel. Thank you!
