Focus
Hi guys, I am having problems with starting XP nd Vista on my PC.To begin with, the harddrive is devided in two parts, on one is installed the XP, on anothe the Vista. On startup, the very first thing was a screen with choice: start XP or start Vista.Well, here comes the preoblem: had to reinstall the XP. All done right. The Vista is intact. But now I can start only the XP! I no longer have the Choose XP/Vista screen, the PC directly loads the XP Please help, how can I fix this, how can I getr back the XP/Vista choice screen? Thanks in advance!
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Welcome to the Windows Forum. How did you originally install XP and Vista - in that sequence: 1. XP, 2. Vista? If so, were you using the Vista Boot Manager? If so, is it possible that the XP reinstallation has replaced the Vista Boot Manager with the XP Boot Manager? (Do you have a hidden boot.ini file on your XP install partition?
Luis 2012
i think when you reinstalled XP it changed the Bootloader to the boot.ini and not the Vista one. Easiest way to fix this is if you still have your Vista DVD you can Reboot from Vista disk, select Startup repair and it should find the problem and fix it. If it doesn't, boot into XP and install EasyBCD (search google for download link) and there should be an option for repairing the MBR. Tell me if any of those work because there are always other ways (a lil more complicated though)
