Windows Update "not working"

I am also a sufferer of windows update not working. this issue also seems to extend to AVG 8.0 and windows defender.

Any ideas?

Please give us the error code that you get from Windows Update; you can get it by clicking on 'Review your update history' (from http://www.update.microsoft.com/).

I only have windows firewall and the AVG program.

It could be windows firewall blocking it then.

Open your Windows Firewall settings, click on the acceptions tab and find Windows Update, otherwise, there may be a problem with the Windows Update, or like Pat's article says it may just be "interruptions with the computer being updated and the windows update servers" in which case basically it says to try again later, like most other things ever say. :D
