bochiman
The powerful free virtualization software from Sun, VirtualBox 2.1.0 was released and is available for free download for Linux, Windows, Mac OS, Solaris and OpenSolaris. The new features and the existing ones make VirtualBox a notable competitor for any commercial software for virtual machines management. bochiman
Is there any advantage of VirtualBox over Microsoft Virtual PC?My real question is: can I install Windows 7 on VirtualBox? (I tried it on Virtual PC, but it failed to install.)In the supported guest operating systems for Virtual Box there is not specified Windows 7. Vista works, but with some additions. As compared with VMware in case of the same computer configuration, Virtual Box needs more resources to run comfortably. I have tried Ubuntu 8.1 and Fedora 10 and seems to work fine, but the time of virtual machine initialization is higher than the time corresponding to a virtual machine deployed with VMware. I will test the new Windows 7 Beta that seems to appear until Christmas this year. I guess it will work, but not all components may be available.
