AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, I recently upgraded from an AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ to the 6000+ running at stock 3.1 ghz. It is the Brisbane model. Anyways I also bought a Sunbeam core contact freezer with is the heatsink and http://www.sunbeamtech.com/PRODUCTS/cooler...actFreezer.html

Anyways I'm having a few problems with my hardware.

1. Windows doesn't officially recognize my CPU although it is running at it's 3.1ghz advertised speed. Also in the bios it has my old 2.0 ghz as the default and Windows still has the info for the old one. Under system info it says "AMD dual core, model unknown." But in programs like Core temp, it recognizes my cpu.

2. The fan controller is messed up, it does not work when i connect the fan to the controller to the mobo, but does work when I do direct connection from fan to mobo.

3. How do I reverse the polarity of the fan and how it turns? I mean I had to switch the fan around because it was blowing air in instead of out.

4. I get random shutdowns, as in my Windows XP will just shut down for no reason. This has happened 2-3 times.

Thank you guys so much in advance!!!

You could try running at lower speed of the cpu first.

Some bioses have a safe setting for the BIOS. It might make your pc more stable.

Then you start tweaking the parmeters one by one...
