adamw
Hi out thereI bought a laptop with vista home premium and a router and connected with the old windows 2000 pc. File and printer sharing never worked and I just noticed that it does work as soon as I shutdown the ZoneAlarm firewall. I am using the ZoneAlarm freeware. Can anybody help me how to set the firewall settings? Thanx
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Yes, the firewall needs to be configured in order to share resources. See the three Networking Fundamentals topics on the top of this forum - this helped me greatly when setting up my home network a few years ago. adamw
Yeah - I just read through the 3 networking fundamentals postings. Although those are great, I still do not know how to configure theZoneAlarm firewall - maybe just not enought experience. If anybody can give me specific tips I would appreciate it.Thanks
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Ok, I will look at my ZoneAlarm settings when I get home. What is your ZA version?
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Open up ZoneAlarm and go to Firewall. On the Main tab, Internet Zone Security is set to 'High', Trusted Zone Security to 'Medium'.On the Zones tab, add each computer in your Network as an IP Address into the Trusted Zone. As description insert the computer's name. That should do it.
