WinXP Pro with 2 soundcards

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm running a winxp pro (sp3) on a Lenovo M55e desktop pc. I would like to keep a permanent connection between my pc and my home cinema system. Since keeping such a connection, meaning permanent one, halts my system audio and tunnels all audio information exclusively to my home cinema system, I bought a second soundcard, TurtleBeach Amigo USB soundcard. I planned to connect the home cinema to this usb card, while leaving my onboard soundcard operative for pc system sound outlets.

Well, when I connected the new USB soundcard to the home cinema system's cable, my pc lost its audio (keeping home cinema as the exclusive active audio outlet.

Is there a way to satisfy my preferences? Can it be done on system level? Is it possible via software level (For example, is it possible to configure quicktime to use the external soundcard and Windows Media Player via onboard sc?
