matstars
I have a Sony Srx77 with an xp home key on the back. I don't have the recovery cd can I use a regular oem xp home cd w/ the key? Are there any options I have outside paying for a recovery cd?

Alan2273
Yes you can use another XP Home disk and when it asks for your key, enter the one on the back of your laptop. At least that way you will not get all the sony crap installing. One problem you will have is the drivers, so download them and burn them to a disk before you format the drive. You can use a program like PCWizard 2008, (http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php) to find what your hardware is and locate the drivers.
