mikewill81 Posted January 14, 2009 Report Share Posted January 14, 2009 Hi, and thanks in advance for any help.I was trying to partition my hard drive so that I could install the Windows 7 Beta on an empty one. Was advised to used GParted so, I did. I booted from the Gparted Live disk, then moved the C: to the right and freed up 20gb of unallocated space. Once this was done, I created a new partition in that space. Then when I exited GParted my PC restarted. Only, it didn't. It tried to do a system recovery, or something, and was told that it couldn't repair system. After trying for a bit, I figured I needed (or would just do) a factory image recovery. It went through the recovery but, then it got to a CHKDSK C: screen, saying the drive was NTSF (no clue what that is...) and then stall at 10%. After fooling with this for a bit, I could finally get past that and into actual Vista. The problem is, it is loading from the E: (new partition) and that only has 20gb of space on it. It looks like Vista has installed on C: and E:. I would love to get rid of the E: partition however, I mainly want to be booting and repair the C:. Any help would be very much appreciated. Could you post a screen shot of your HD with the partitions, then explain what is in what?NTFS, b.t.w. is the NT file system - normal for XP or Vista.
