Hi,

I have an issue with my medion 96360, originally it should have win vista inside, but some cowboys reinstalled into xp, and now i get some viruses ect. and my system running quite slow. I decided to do clean install it dosent matter witch os will be inside vista or xp, but then i putting cd's and trying to install i get a black/blue screen....

xp:

error: check your hardware vendor for bios update (i did bios update), disable BIOS memory (i couldnt find i this it dosent support such think)

***stop: 0x0000008E ....

***setupdd.sys....

***symc810.sys...

vista:

win has problem communicating with a device connected to your computer

....

Status: 0xc00000e9

Info An unexpected I/O error has occured.

I quickly googled and get issue with sata drivers to installing xp, but how about vista?

So I do not understand if it has xp it shouldn't be any problem to install vista, or could be that clean xp install deleted my sata drives or smth like....

Actually i connected floppy and tried to install sata drivers for my hdd WDC WD1600BEVS, but its a little but tricky to find drivers for it. It possible that i mix something because i get message that setup looking for .txt file???

I read in some forum that xp(sp3) could slove this problem it has some additional drivers for hdd, but im not sure it's true ?

My question maybe somebody familiar with such situation and could help me, or its easier to by new notebook ;)

Thank You.

If I was in your position I would try to download Belarc Adviser and see what that tells you. If you can, and if it runs it should tell you just what is on your machine, and it would give you a clearer picture of what is going on.
