Can XP see 2 different networks at once?

So I've got this comp with XP Pro on it. I need the internal network adapter to communicate with a display control system that has it's own proprietary network and my normal network at the same time, is this possible? The control system manufacturer says it is and I've bought a USB to ethernet adapter to use as my second network source but I'm not sure how to configure the system.

Thanks for the help!!

Yes, it's no problem. You will need to have two network cards on the Windows XP Pro system though.

You just have to be sure that the internal, proprietary network for the display control system is separate from the network you use for everything else.

For example, if your "normal" network is 192.168.1.x with a 255.255.255.0 mask, your display control system should be something other than that like 172.16.0.x with a 255.255.255.0 mask.

The display control system network should not need a default gateway defined since you'll only be connecting a few devices on the same network there.
