Glyn
When you insert a new DVD in order to make copies there appears to be 2 methods. 1) Copy files as you would to a USB Memory Stick such that you can add or delete files at a later date, or 2) Create a Master Disk which creates a once off backup of the files selected that then makes the disk read only. Is it reasonable that method 1) creating an open file should take about 20-30 times as longer that creating a Master Disk or do I have a problem with my DVD Writer. I started a backup of some photographs earlier copying 4GB of data; first of all the disk took 30 minutes to format and then after 3 hours it was only halfway through the copy. At one point it told me that the task was going to take over 3 days to complete! Using the Master disk method which had by then discovered I copied 1GB in around 10 minutes!Am I doing something wrong with the open file method, or does it always take much longer, or does it sound like a fault. I have only had the laptop, which is an Acer 5735 2 *2.0 ghz system with 4GB of RAM for a month therefore if it is faulty I can get a refund!Any help would be greatly appreciated.
