ivtec Posted January 27, 2009 Report Share Posted January 27, 2009 I decided to make Ricovery, but my wireless keeps Falling i have to open the windows (change Fire Wall) and turn on and off a couple times, to resume my protected wireless DSL that has the Security suite,it never fail with other neighbours's wireless, this happened me before but i could fix it buy going in windows fire wall advance settings and put a mark on the box for DHCP(67) but now i go there and don't see it some can help on this please, Thanks in advance. What version of Windows are you using?Thankyou for trying to help me, My vaio VGN came with WindowsXp sp1 and i upgraded through Windows updates site to SP2, because i needed to install Sling Player, now i think this securitys that SP2 have are causing my wireless connection to fall and most the times i have to open the windows firewall setting and turn on and off to resume.and sometimes it doen't works,it works good with ethernet cable,also it works good with my neighbour unsecured wirless connection, but it's week signal.do you suggest anything?.if i could desconnect the firewall but it seems to be part of the SP2 upgrade,i switch off on the fire walls but thats not enough.if you can think of anything i would apreciate. It's also a little shady using your neighbour's wirelwss unless you have permission to do so.To disable the Windows XP Firewall, go to Control Panel. If you're in Classic View, double click Windows Firewall. If you're in Category View, click on Security Center, then double click on Windows Firewall. Click the radio button for Off (Not recommended), then click Ok.Windows XP Service Pack 3 is also available. Please make sure you keep Windows XP up to date, and use antivirus software and keep it up to date to protect your computer from attack. Please make sure you keep Windows XP up to date, and use antivirus software and keep it up to date to protect your computer from attack.Thank you: i finelly got my wireless connection going good;keep (your fingers crossed)i removed the Verizon suite protection last night, did not retart nothing i did shutdown and went to bed thinking that in the morning i would make full recovery and start fresh,but when i turned on the laptop tried to connect and it requested my WEP KEY, i put it in and it connected right away and has been running ever since without any fails. So i assume that verizon dsl security suite has conflicts with Windows firewall maybe also SP3,now i have micrsolft fire wall but no antivirus,and i'm afraid to download sp3 and get all this drops again, because one time i had sp3 intalled and i removed Verizon protection suite and it did not solve the problem, .Unless i did not do the right thing, any more tips and make me beleive that if i download Sp3 it wont start all over again,i've already made about 6 recoverys altogether,hope all this full recoverys wont wear off my hard drive? thanks in advance. I don't recommend running without antivirus software.http://free.avg.com/I can't tell you what will happen when you install SP3. It's mainly just a rollup of all updates since SP2. It isn't supposed to impose major changes to the operating system the way SP2 did. I do recommend keeping your operating system up to date, or you run the risk of being attacked even if you're running antivirus software.
