[Need Help] Vista & XP network problem

Hi y'all!

I have a small problem. There's a small network of approx 10 PCs I have to configure to make their files & printers accessible to each PC. The PCs running Windows XP work just fine, I've configured them using Network Setup Wizard found in control panel. The workgroup name is: MSHOME, file & printer sharing is turned ON.

On Vista when I open up network and I try to view computers on the network. Nothing shows up, except the gateway. (Note: Workgroup is also MSHOME, same IP range, File & Printer Sharing is turned ON, Network Discovery ON. Well pretty much everything is ON. :) ). When I try to access computers running XP by entering their IP directly it opens up fine. But the problem it's not accessible via Network.

I've tried to disable IPv6, because I've read somewhere that it may cause problem on some switches. Did not work. I've changed the workgroup name and put it back to MSHOME, did not work also.

Could someone help me. Please I'm lost. :(

you need to know the printer ip and that you have installed the

printer on each machine is recommeded

and set up the printer to the ip that you know

and i use the brother utilitly

Brother admistrator Utililty

the program is called BRAdmin Professional 3

it will dectect the printer that is install on the computer

you are using

the printer must be installed on the computer you are using

best to put BRAdmin Professional 3 on your admistator computer

which manage the rest of your network (your main computer)

it will tell what your printer ip

which has been helpful for me when my printer changes it ip

and also you can find out your printer ip go to your router's page

and you should be able to see what all the ips plus your computer

and network computer(s) and printer(s)

i dont know if the switch has a ip of it own which does not appear to be

i have 2 switches connected to the router
