Hi!

When I play music in the back ground and run another application in the front like adobe reader or MS word, the music gets distorted and screeches for a couple of seconds and then gets back to normal.

I don't know why it happens .... any ideas??

I had the PSU replaced. I suspect its my HDD. How can i confirm?

Config:

P4 2.8 ghz

Asus P5N- MX

1 Gb ram

250 GB WD HDD

80 GB seagate HDD

Judging by the size of your hard drives, I would say they are PATA. If so, you should check if any of the hard drives aren't running in PIO mode. You can do that from Device Manager -> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers -> Primary IDE channel (and secondary as well) -> Advanced Settings: check each device that reads "Auto Detection" on "Device Type" to have "Ultra DMA Mode X" (where X is a digit) on "Current Transfer Mode".

Let me know how it works. Cheers.
