darolu Posted February 13, 2009 Report Share Posted February 13, 2009 I'm trying to fix my friend's computer with Windows XP SP3 (had a bazillion of viruses spyware etc...). I re-formatted, re-installed Windows XP SP3 etc... all drivers are configured, including the sound driver; no alert signs of any kind on the Device Manager, it says the device works properly except that it does not sound... when I reinstall the driver (and I have tried with at least 10 different drivers) it sounds perfectly, everything seems to be OK but when I reboot the sound doesn't work anymore, no errors of any kind, as for the system concerns it works fine.The system configuration is: Pentium 4 HT 2.6Ghz 512MB DRR @ 400Mhz; 60GB HD, [don't remember video, is integrated, will edit later], sound is an integrated chip C-Media AC-97Thanks in advance. Dencandy Posted February 14, 2009 Report Share Posted February 14, 2009 Have you checked that the appropriate sound volume control hasn't been reduced or muted for some raeson?
