lindylex
I created an image of a ntfs hard I formatted by accident and wanted to see if I could rescue the contents from it. I made an image of the hard drive using Linux dd_rescue command. I want to use Stellar Phoenix to rescue the data but it does not like the file format. Is there a tool to mount this hard drive image in Windows and maybe then S.P. can try to recover the contents?GetData has such a tool to mount hard drive images created with dd but it does not mount the image. This is the tool.http://www.mountimage.com/GetDataback for NTFS can mount the image and run a recovery but it does not do as good a job as S.P. Does anyone know of a way to mount this hard drive hd image?
Seshomaru Samma
did you save it as an img file? if so you can open it with MagicISO what is the actual syntax you used?why don't you just mount it with Linux - rescue whatever you need and transfer it to your Windows partition? That is how GetDataBack opened it. Linux is great but there is no Linux tool that does a better job than Stellar Phoenix for Windows that I know of for getting stuff back from a NTFS formatted drive. ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I'm glad that you resolved your issue. However, I am still wondering how one "accidentally" formats a HD or partition...?
