Tam Posted February 18, 2009 Report Share Posted February 18, 2009 Hello All,Just wondered if anybody can offer me any help or advise????I have a sony vaio PCG-K115M (I know its a dinosaur) but still works ok for me...The problem I have is that I have bought "windows XP Pro"(Not from sony) and wanted to install it on a new 120 gig hard-drive,Its starts off ok and when it gets to press F8 to except the license agreement and continue mine does not let me do this no matter what I do nothing happens,although I can when I use anything else.ie spell check???Is there some protection that sony has put in place to stop you doing this??? ( I can use the recovery cd no problem)when I use the windows home recovery cd which I got with the laptop,It does not ask you to pres F8 to except the license agreement,Is there anyway round this,ThanksTamCheers,Tam Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Also, I don't understand how the spell checker comes in at that stage...?Can you confirm that your Windows install disk is a legitimate copy of XP? Also, I don't understand how the spell checker comes in at that stage...?Can you confirm that your Windows install disk is a legitimate copy of XP?Hello Pat,Firstly thanks for all your replies,Yes it is legitimate copy,when I install XP you have to press F8 to accept the license agreement to continue,If you don't you are only left one other option of pressing ESC to cancel??? Boris Posted February 21, 2009 Report Share Posted February 21, 2009 Just a thought - is it because the specific keyboard driver for this particular laptop is not one of those included in the standard XP install drivers ?You could try doing the install with a standard USB keyboard attached (first making sure that USB devices are supported and enabled in the BIOS). I had a similar problem last week when re-installing XP on a laptop where the owner had broken the "Enter" key - but using a working wired keyboard got around this.
