How do I password protect my Flashdrive or folders?

Recommended Posts

I have one user account (and dont log on with a password i find it annoying) but i want to prevent people from accessing certain files (or the whole usb drive) I know how to prevent certain other accounts from accessing folders (but not whole drives) but that doesnt help me because i do NOT want to have the logon screen. Is there a way to do this or am I out of luck? btw i have windows vista home premium 32bit.

If I've understood your questions correctly, with one exception, I think what you're asking for is impossible (but I may be wrong). If you do not have a password to just one of your admin accounts, then a knowledgable and determined person who has physical access to your computer can eventually have access to any files or folders on your computer or its peripherals. The one exception is for USB drives that have their own built-in password system (e.g. Imation).
