Now this is an interesting find for those of you who like to monitor what your hardware is doing

speedfan

At the lowest level, SpeedFan is an hardware monitoring software, but its main feature is that it can control the speed of the fans (depending on your sensor chip) according to the temperatures inside your pc, thus reducing noise and power consumption.

Health Warning Unless you are very confident in what you are doing then I would urge you to leave this one alone. Please read the disclaimer at the top of the site.

Interesting proggy and site. Although I don't think I will be running it as I have winbond hardware doctor bundled with the board. Of course winbond is no where as sophisticated as speedfan it does give me all the info I need in windows.

As one or two may know,my psu bit the bullet last week. I have had the sides of the case off for ages. CPU fan speed would go to a max of 4150. I stuck and old psu in for a day or two till I got a new case. I stripped the old board, cpu heatsink and fan down and cleaned them all. The amount of dust on the heatsink and fan blades was incredible.

Everything is now sealed in the new case and fan speed is now going to a max of 4650 now.

Just shows you how they collect dust with the sides off and how useful these sensor/ monitor adjustment proggys can be.
