Dell Notebook Intel wireless problem

downloading and installing IE7 causes wirless card to not work. Worked before. 3 times I had to reload windows (would think one would learn the first time, but wanted to narrow the problem down) for this problem. Any ideas? Un-installed IE7 but wireless card still won't connect to my home network. doesn't get an IP address.

System never connects to the wireless network. Sees it but doesn't get an IP. Before IE7 was installed, no problems to speak of.

Reinstalling Windows to fix a network connection seems a bit strong medicine to me.

First, what is your Windows version?

What do you get if you run ipconfig /all ?

Have you tried to run the network diagnostics on IE7?

With a fresh install of Windows XP SP2, and IE6 the system is able to connect to the Wireless router. When IE7 is installed (it also installs 2 security updates) the wireless card is unable to Authenticate with any router. Something within IE 7 seems to be screwing up the wireless card. I uninstalled IE7 but it still is not working. IPCONFIG shows that the LAN card (if its connected to the router) is assigned an IP address but the wireless card has none...It's not that IE7 doesn't work, it's that it screwed up my system and I can't find what is wrong. Neither can Dell.

I have run the diagnostics on the wireless card and it will not authenticate. I do not know to what diagnostics your refering too for IE7. Explain

When you run into a connection problem with IE7 or IE8, it will automatically give you a 'Diagnose' button on the browser body. Click it and follow the instructions; it has helped me to resolve connection problems in the past.
