lenland
I was installing service pack 3 (XP HOME) when an message came up that that an error had taken place and the install was stopped. Since then I can not get on the internet (everything else seems to be OK). My ethernet conection says is is working perfectly. When I try both Internet Explorer and Firefox I get "addresses not found, Firefox can not find the server at www.msn.com" I can not uninstall as Service pack3 does does come up in "ad/Delete" and I have tried system revert back to a prior day but "revert back" does not work.Any suggestions? I have second computer with internet access.Thank youleonard
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Welcome to the Windows Forum. How did you install SP3 - via Windows Update, or from the downloaded service pack?Did you make any preparations before starting to install SP3, such as outlined in this topic? When you say "revert back" is not working, do you mean System Restore? And how, exactly, is it not working?Either way, if you cannot restore your system, make sure it is clean (no malware), and that you have enough free space. Then try the SP3 install again from the downloaded service pack.
Dencandy
Microsoft give 4 methods for removing XP SP3 at this link: UNINSTALL SP3. You can also get to System Restore in Safe Mode.
