Tizzyloucat Posted May 23, 2009 Report Share Posted May 23, 2009 In the advanced settings of Display Properties you can check a box under the Compatibility sction that will let you apply your new settings without restarting your computer. If you click on the Adapter tab there is a "List all Modes" button that shows you al of the resolutions and refresh rates that your video card will accept. When you apply the resolution change the screen will go black while your settings are changed but your computer will not restart. That works for me. winchendon Posted May 24, 2009 Author Report Share Posted May 24, 2009 ok that didn't work. I checked the apply settings without restarting box. still restarted.it must be a driver issue. NOW - would you say it is safe to restore back to a point from like 6 months ago, grab the driver, and then restore back to the newest point? I have drivermax but id rather not use it. winchendon Posted May 25, 2009 Author Report Share Posted May 25, 2009 no actually I updated them since them (was a bad idea, don't fix what isn't broken), but I did something dumb and I don't think I saved my old drivers.so... how safe is it to restore to a really old point, and then come back to the current? winchendon Posted May 26, 2009 Author Report Share Posted May 26, 2009 lets say I did something dumb without thinking in about a weeks time. what I did for that week was update drivers found that some were not what I wanted. then tried different ones and more different ones etc. and I also didnt save the original drivers. so I guess I'm asking the same question againhow safe is it to restore to a really old point, and then come back to the current?
