Scarthy © ® ™
Hi all ;),I have been using the new version of Windows Messenger 5 for a few weeks now. I haven't had any emails for a while as I have my Hotmail junk mail filter set to exclusive (with the worms of late especially). The problem is this...Before (before version 5) when I signed into Messenger, it would tell me how many new emails I had on my Hotmail account. I could then click the "my email inbox" or click the pop-up message in the bottom right corner and be taken straight to my account in Internet Explorer.I haven't been to my Hotmail account for a while and seeing as I set it to "Exclusive" in the settings, I thought that I would access it last night so that Hotmail didn't shut my account down (you know the 1 month rule).I signed into Messenger and no emails were found so I clicked on the inbox link and Outlook Express started up??? Now everytime I click a name (for sending emails) I get Outlook Express and not the webpage going to my Hotmail account???Does anyone know how to set it back to the Hotmail account? Or is this something that is only on version 5? I still sign into my Hotmail/ .net account on Messenger but Outlook Express seems to want to be used instead of my browser.Any ideas....???;)
bvw
I'm still on 4.7 and do exactly what you used to do with no problem. It must be to do with the new version 5.0?
Scarthy © ® ™
Maybe...I haven't used my Hotmail account since installing v5, so I can't be 100%.I know you can access Hotmail from within Outlook Express. But what I wanted was it back to the old way. (sucker for routine :D)
Guest Nellie2
If, in Outlook Express, you click on Tools, accounts then the mail tab. Is your hotmail account set up there?? If it is... if you delete it will that then break the hold Outlook Express has over your Hotmail account???Only guessing here but I suppose it is worth a look ;)

Scarthy © ® ™
Thanx guys (and Nelly2). I think it is missing from this version of Messenger! There was an option in the last version I had to install the MSN Addon. I am currently re-installing Windows Messenger v5 to see if it changes anything, if not then I guess I will have to either stick with it or go back to v4.7...Does anyone know why? Or if it is available for v5 from anywhere?;)
