What can I do?Most likely the partition E: got corrupted and windows recognized it as unformatted.Run a disk check on the other drives too.... C: and D: to check it they have errors. rong Posted May 31, 2009 Report Share Posted May 31, 2009 The other thing to do is try the harddrive in another computer as a slave and see if you can see anything then, the idea being that the new OS will see it in a different light. Tizzyloucat Posted May 31, 2009 Author Report Share Posted May 31, 2009 Just want to say THANKS for all the comments and suggestions. It appears that the hard disk is failing. The disk is on my friend's computer and when I looked at her Event Viewer today there were about 100 red x marks followed by the word disk! I have ordered a new disk for her and have told her to turn her computer off so we can try to salvage her pictures....I have a computer I can hook it up to so we can possibly salvage some of her information. I'll let you know what happens...Should I try to create a disk image with something like Acronis rather than move the data via copy and paste? Or should I try some other type of backup. I just hate to see her lose about 10 years of 1000s of pictures. I've never done this before and don't know what is the best way to do this Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!
