GeForce 6150SE nForce 430

Recommended Posts

hi

Ric

newb

just recovered from a week of black screen blues - this all began when windows asked to install a GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 driver update. i clicked 'continue' and the lights went out (monitor). have had to switch monitors and went through i don't know how many subsequent driver downloads - from nVidia and Dell - to get a monitor working

well, as you can see, i again have visual contact with my pc :-o but the windows nVidia update pop-up has started appearing for nVidia again!

now i have downloaded and installed the most up-to-date driver for the GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 - so what is with windows and how do i get rid of this update box please?

running a Dell Inspiron 531 AMD 2core

thanks

... how do i get rid of this update box please?

Go to http://www.update.microsoft.com/, and when it's initialized click 'Custom'.

Find the driver update (Hardware, Optional), then click on the post-1524-1243822337_thumb.gif icon next to the update. Check 'Don't show this update again' at the bottom of the expanded text.

P.S. if you ever again get a bad driver update (it does happen sometimes), boot into Safe Mode, open the Device Manager, and simply roll back the bad driver.

Really? Can you see the update with "normal" (Express) button?

when i start up the Vista i get the windows pop-up asking to install now or later, no other options; when i visit the link in XP (different pc) i get the 'custom' option; when i visit in Vista i just get a blue page with numerous options, none of which say 'custom'

can you guide me through the Vista page please?

thanks
