dottech
Hello All,I have 2 used thinkpad T43's. Have 2 Hitachi HTS541616J9AT00's, one from a Dell Inspiron, one from unknown Toshiba. Both T43's recognize both drives when in ultrabay. Neither drive will boot into (either) T43 as a primary. I thought I just had to update drivers for it to be bootable. I have XP Pro CD but can't get the drives to show as c: so I can put the XP CD in d:, to reinstall. Is disk conversion/adaptation across hardware possible? I've looked all over the Lenovo site, downloaded firmware only to discover no upgrade was necessary. This is a little out of my realm so specifics will really be appreciated. I can do anything if I have enough information - I did get a brand new Hitachi drive to work in one machine, so I am technical, just lack the know-how on this one.I could use Disk Management and reformat but hate to spend the time reloading/configuring. If reformatting is necessary, please advise the best path to end up with NTFS, 1 partition. Thanks.
