ATI 3850 HD

Recommended Posts

I have managed to install the newest ati windows 7 driver for my card but there is an issue under Win 7. Simply running the installer does not install the video driver one has to do it manually via 'have disk' and browse to the driver folder and select the proper file.

Not very intuitive.

There is supposed to be some sort of program installed in C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies but there is nothing in that folder although the folder was created. I tried the install numerous times with the same results.

When I check my card it shows properly as an ATI 3850HD. Everything I have checked has been ok except for my hippo viewer for open sim grid. When I log into the grid I am getting terrible artifacts, huge in fact, that do not go away. This is true in both the hippo viewer and the cool viewer. These both work fine with the same card under XP.

I am not really a gamer so cannot comment on other video intensive applications, but open sim is not really that video intensive.

Has anyone else had an issue with this card or been able to rectify the problem?

Thanks
