Hi,

It's low spec  ,but i use this computer for about 4 years and it's quite good(no problem). But recently, there's an error message for svchost.exe and after that my sound disappear. I tried to upgrade sound card driver, bios but nothings change. I assume it's because hardware problem. So i bought new pc 3 days ago.

New:

AMD II X3 710, Gigabyte M85M-US2H, 1G Kingston, Mitsubishi 160G, Enlight 400w.

And yet, today this error message come up again and my sound disappear.

I really upset.

Faulting application svchost.exe,
version 5.1.2600.2180,
faulting module netapi32.dll,
version 5.1.2600.2180,
fault address 0x000187ad.

Can anybody help this situation. Thanks before.

What amazes me is that you have the same problem on your old and new computer!

I did a Google search (Faulting application svchost.exe, faulting module netapi32.dll) and it found quite a number of results. Nothing definite (I didn't look though many of them), but some do suggest that it could be caused by a virus/malware infection.

Do you have anti-malware software installed? Did you run a full scan recently?

Pat, i've tried housecall but no infection. I think the problem came from slysoft clonedrive or magiciso. I reinstall xp to my old pc. And everything run smoothly just like 4years ago :D . Since i installed that programs, svchost error and my sound missing. Just for information now i use alcohol soft 52%.
