avesfan Posted July 14, 2009 Report Share Posted July 14, 2009 The other day when I restarted my computer when I got to the windows login I entered my user name and password as usual. It said my password was incorrect so I tried to just leave it blank and it logged in. The odd part is that it started windows and it was a completely new user.To explain this next part I will use User as my username.When I went into explorer to c:\documents and settings\.... it showed a new user named User.USER and my regular login acct User with all of my documents.How do I login to just the User account, and how did this happen? This process re-installs the system to as it was when you make the backup and if that was before the time this effect occurred then it should not be able to happen.Have you checked for malware or have you installed any updates to the system that may account for this? When you say restore from backup, is that different than a system restore?I scanned for malware/spyware ect. first thing after I realized what happened, then I tried the system restore.The original user is there with all my documents and settings. Is there any way to login to that other account.
