toberc
Main objective (background information)The main objective is export data from a program called BDM into a Macro in Word. I'm not allowed to edit the Macro myself, so I have been asked to find a way of exporting the information into a comma separated text file, which will be linked to the Word Macro by someone else. Currently it is only possible to export the info from BDM into Excel. What I want to do is to find a way of linking the text file to the Excel file, so that when the Excel file is overwritten by the information from BDM, the information in the Text file is automatically updated. My question...Is it possible to to create a link between a Text file and an Excel file, so that when certain cells in the Excel file are updated, the information in the Text file is updated automatically? Thanks for your help! ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
Welcome to the Windows Forum. Not exactly a Windows support question, so I will move the topic to a more appropriate section of the forum.Regarding your question: does Excel allow macros? If so, this is probably the only way of linking a document to an external text file. What version of Excel are we talking about?
toberc
Its Microsoft Excel 2007, but the Excel files are saved as 1997-2003 Excel files (.xls). And yes, it is possible to create Macros in Excel.
