I have a computer with WindowsXP Professional running on an intranet and I need users can print only documents from a specific url.

The computer can navigate only the domain http://mydomain.com, inside the domain there are many webapps suppose http://mydomain.com/app1, http://mydomain.com/app2 and so on.

I want only specific documents coming from http://mydomain.com/app2 can be printed so

http://mydomain.com/app2/docs/mydoc.pdf can be printed

http://mydomain.com/app2/docs/mydoc1.pdf can be printed

http://mydomain.com/app2/docs/mydoc2.pdf cannot be printed

http://mydomain.com/app1/docs/anotherdoc.pdf cannot be printed

How can I do this?

What software do I need?

Can be done using only policy tool and if it is true how can I configure policy?

any idea is welcomed

PS

Please apologize my ugly english

Did you (or your company) create these documents with Adobe Acrobat? If so, you can specify exactly what can be done with a document, including being printed.

I don't know if we have many users here who know Acrobat; there is a user forum for Acrobat at http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat

Not only Acrobat, also DOC and Excel.

But we can't modify documents to "protect" from print so we need a solution at OS level, something locking the printer

You mean you also want to protect Word and Excel documents from being printed?

Yes, I want to protect the "printer".

Users can only print specific URL, any other print operation is forbidden

But the important point is that users can view all documents but can print only a subset
