Trevor
Hello all, first post. I am really stressing out here. I have run a legal copy of XP Pro SP3 for several years on my laptop, and everything has run smoothly until recently. Last night my battery ran down completely to the point of shutting off, which it has done in the past. But when I turned it on this morning, and I log on, a message pops up that says "You must Activate this copy of windows before logging on, would you like to activate now?"If i click no, it logs off, if i click yes nothing happens. Now when i plugged in the ethernet from the router, and click yes, a windows activation thing pops up, but stalls at "checking for connectivity".I can boot in safe mode.Does anyone know what I can do?Thanks! Boris
Have you tried a System Restore back to a Restore Point before your battery ran down ?You should be able to do this from Safe Mode.
ɹəuəllıʍ ʇɐb
I don't know why you need to activate again; perhaps some info was lost during the power-off.I would just activate it again - there shouldn't be any problem with that.
