savak Posted October 15, 2009 Report Share Posted October 15, 2009 HiAfter my system worked fine when I tried to restart I get the black screen with moveable arrow before the logon screen. Nothing happens further even in safe mode. No infected sites were visited.No softeware or hardware was added. The only problem was AVG Free 8.5 (up to date) reported that an apdate request was refused by the server, nothing was done to correct this.Any suggestions?ThanksGraeme Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Boris Posted October 16, 2009 Report Share Posted October 16, 2009 I see that you have now done a full re-installation of XP, but I would have suggested that you tried a Repair installation of Windows first. See - http://www.simplyguides.net/guides/repair_...lation_xp.shtmlThis repair will allow you to keep your current documents and applications intact.
