Data recuperation on disk

On a second disk (500GB) I had two partitions, F: and G:

Accidentally I restored a C:-image on the F:-partition. When the restore program asked for the size of the partition to restore, I inputted 40GB.

As a result, I now can see three partitions in Disk Management:

F: Local Disk 40GB NTFS Healthy Active Primary

J: 377GB Healthy Primary but not accessible

G: New Volume 49GB NTFS Healthy Logical

Because J: did not show up in explorer, I assigned a diskletter to it. But I still can't see it.

Originally F: contained some backup data, that I would like to recuperate, because the original disk crashed.

Is there a way to recuperate data on J: It does not show up in explorer since it is not formatted, Properties of Disk Management says capacity 0 bytes.

Can I recuperate data on the free space on F: (11GB used, 29GB free).

I tried Recuva. Nice program, but it didn't work for me.

But via your link, I found another link to 'Testdisk', a powerfull restore-program. Unfortenately, I don't know if that program could repair the problem or not, because I think I made an error.
