Trioke Posted October 26, 2009 Report Share Posted October 26, 2009 I want to use a DLNA Media Server on my Windows XP SP3 Laptop so that my PS3 can fetch music/video, but to do that I need to enable UPnP both at the router level and the PC level.Routers are easy gadgets. Just click the radio button that said "Enable" under UPnP and I was good to go.Windows XP? Now this is a tricky beast. I went into Control Panels -> Add/Remove Softwares -> Add/Remove Windows Component -> Networking Services -> checked both "Internet Gateway Device Discovery and Control Client" and "UPnP User Interface".Typed in services.msc and tried to find "SSDP Discovery Service", couldn't find it, so I thought to myself: "Hmm, probably requires a reboot to refresh the services."Okay, so I rebooted. Looked in the Services list again, and it still wasn't there.That's when I hopped on Google and looked into this, it turns out I wasn't able to find anything, and thus my story brings me to here: Why is the Service not even present to begin with? I'd understand if it was Disabled, but nope, it doesn't even want to show its pretty little face.I'm as stumped as a tree stump can be (okay, lame metaphor), any assistance into this matter is much appreciated.
