Vista Audio Card Issue

I recently upgraded my family's desktop (FX530XM - http://www.gateway.com/product_spec.php?pr...cid=529665345) to a Vista 32-bit operating system, because it needed a new OS. The computer has a lil' sticker on it that says "Compatible with Windows Vista," so I figured it'd be OK.

When I was finished updating all the drivers, I noticed that the sound output icon in the lower right was giving me a "No Audio Output Device is Installed" error. When I checked the device manager, it wasn't showing a sound device - ("Multimedia Audio Controller" is listed under "Other Devices" with the symbol saying that there are no device drivers.)

I went online to look for the device drivers for my sound card. The updated drivers for the sound card say that it only supports OS up to and including XP Professional. Needless to say, it didn't work right with Vista.

When it says "This computer is compatible with Vista", does it not include the default sound card? Any suggestions?

Configuration: Windows Vista

Firefox 3.5.5

dear i read all your problem and all the replies. it's not problem in you device or driver just problem in your installing. extract your driver into a folder or install driver in xp then copy it from xp and install in vista via Device Manager then update driver then reinstall your driver then give the path to your source files which you copy from extract folder or other source. you driver will install.

if not installing tell me i have other solution.

tell me your sound card name also. thank you
