fmw
After installing a Cradlepoint MBR1000 router in my network to accomodate a Verizon 3G card, I lost most of my network discovery. Windows only sees Vista and Win 7 machines. It can't see the XP or Linux machines. I have to map drive letters manually in order to reach XP machines on the network. I can't navigate to them. The network also fails to see shared printers and I haven't been able to install printers manually. Is there some way of restoring Windows network discovery on my peer to peer ethernet? I rebooted the switches, the router, the NAS units and finally, the computers and network discovery returned. Sorry I can't tell you how to fix it if it happens to you. Like anything Windows, try a reboot.
