thecritter99
Hi there,I'm probably going to get one of these:/>http://www.ebuyer.com/product/167442#and I need to upgrade it to Windows 7 Professional. I've been told many things about using the upgrade discs - whether they work or don't work and that there is a particular upgrade path that must be followed. As a student, I can get the upgrade very cheap (http://www.software4students.co.uk/Microsoft_Windows_7_Professional_64_bit_Upgrade_Edition-details.aspx) and I can't afford to buy the 'full' version of Win 7 Pro. I've found that you can do a 'clean install,' but I don't really understand that principle and it seems there are doubts over the legality of this method. Please could you tell me if you can upgrade Vista HP to 7 Pro using that upgrade disc and could someone explain how a clean install works. Thanks,Matt :)

eyeCpc
Hello I'm new on this forum as well. For a direct upgrade from Vista to 7 you can look over the information on this, "Upgrading from Windows Vista to Windows 7" seen at http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/help/upgrading-from-windows-vista-to-windows-7?T1=tab02This shows the upgrade paths available. The Ultimate edition can see a direct upgrade while a clean install with any newer version of Windows is always the best route. Since 7 is now widely available you may a similar if not exact same model with 7 already preinstalled.
