Can Windows Vista hang up an Adobe CS4 Install

Recommended Posts

I am trying to install Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium Edition.

When I start the Setup.exe file the User Interface or Adobe Installer either disappears or fails to start/display. However the Setup.exe file does show up in the Task Manager frozen at 50% CPU with no reads or writes.

I am asking here for two reasons:

1) I know Vista wants to do everything for me, so I assume it must be doing something that I do not know what or where it is doing it.

2) Because Adobe Technical Support hasn't got a clue how their own Installer works (or in my case isn't working).

I'm just trying to eliminate possiblities, and Vista is one of those possibilities.

I have uninstalled my Adobe products and ran several differenct Clean Up scripts for various programs from Adobe.

Apart from the Registry, I have removed every occurance of Adobe.

For good measure I have unistalled and removed anything Google (per Tech Supports suggestion).

And I have even went so far to uninstall my McAfee software.

I even msconfig'd everything to not startup when I boot (except Windows Installer and a few other applications).

Nothing Adobe suggested...and the list is long...has worked. So I ask, is this a Vista issue?

If anyone has seen this for CS4 or something else and can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
