ochy38
Hello, I am new to the forum and am trying to get some ideas on an upgrade for my second computer. I just recently baught a new laptop and it has windows 7 64 on it, and I like it. I have heard how mostly everyone online says windows 7 is a much faster and better OS than vista. That doesnt really pertain here I suppose. My question is this: on my old laptop, I am about to do a full reinstall of the OS b/c its going to my GF to replace her computer and I want to give it a clean slate. It is an hp dv6000, 1.6ghz AMD turion dual core x64, with 2 gb of ram (upgraded from stock 1gb) & integrated graphics. I got the laptop right before vista came out, so it originally had xp and I upgraded to vista 32-bit home premium a few months later through HP. I am wondering if I should upgrade it to windows 7 64-bit? It appears to meet the minimum requirements, and I can get the OS through my school for free. Im just wondering if I would be better off with vista in it incase it is too slow for windows 7. Looking at vista, it gives a score of 2.4 on the windows experience index. My GF wont do anything too intense with it, just basic internet/hulu/youtube/zune im just wondering what everyone thinks based on its specs.
