Share Desktop Profile

I have a laptop that I have been using at a job site where I was not able to sign into my company domain. There is a local user that has a particular desktop environment, templates, etc. that I would like to use. Now, when I log into my domain with this comupter, it sees this as a different user and has an entirely different profile. I would like that both users share the same profile, in other words whether I log itno the domain or the local user, my desktop and settings are all the same. What is the best way of doing this. Do I rename the local user to the same user name as the domain user? I don't want to copy everything to All Users and also don't want to be required to keep moving things to All Users when I add something to the desktop, etc. Does anyone know of the best way to manage this? Am I missing something?

Does anyone have a response on this?

I have posted it on two boards and gotten tons of views and not one response. Is this a really stupid question? All I want to know is the best way to have the same user experience whether I login to domain or locally.

I wouldn't know how to do that, except - what you don't want - copying one profile to the other.

What you could try is

• make one profile a shortcut to the other, but I don't know if Windows will accept that
  -or-
  
• change your %USERPROFILE% environment variable, so that both point to the same profile folder
  

This second suggestion is probably the way to go; but perhaps you don't want to change the complete %USERPROFILE%, but just some lower-level variables like %DESKTOP%, %TEMPLATES%, etc.
