I am the only user on my computer but for some strange reason windows 7 won`t reconise me as the admin user. When I try to install something this happens

Windows asks me to type in the adminpassword but there is no place too type it in and the yes button is "grey" so the only thing I can do is push the no button

Any one got any ideas??

What happens if you click control panel / user accounts, does it list you as an administrator?.

If it says standard user, click on change account and put the dot in Administrator then click OK.

it says standard user but when i try to change the account the same thing happens again. I am asked for the adminpassword but there is no place to type anything in and i can`t press yes because it is "grey" I can only press the no butten

When you log off, or switch user, are there any other users listed?

If nothing is listed, can you use Ctrl + Alt + Del to bring up a log in box that you can type in?

I'm guessing that you will not be able to do that, and if so, you will probably need to run a Windows install again to either repair the installation, or install fresh.

In the future, the way to avoid such a problem would be to create an Administrator account with a password, and then create your user account as a standard user. This way, whenever you want to do something that requires administrator access, it will ask for the administrator password, and you can type it in. This is a more secure way to run Windows 7.
