Computer Won't Start!

I have a computer that was rebuilt a couple years ago, and for some reason the computer doesn't start at all.

A couple weeks ago, there was just no video that was displayed, so we left it for a couple of hours and then it worked. Then it did the same thing but then when I restarted it, well it wouldn't start. it's like the button doesn't work.

I already tried to see if it was the power supply, but no. I removed that one and put in another one, but still nothing.

I checked the ram, to see if it's correctly put in, but no.

And I'm out of Ideas. Thats the second computer in the house that breaks down. The one I use broke, and we had to replace it, sucks but what can you do.

Any Help would be appreciated.

I feel that a problem like this is too big to be answered in a forum - it really does need someone to physically examine the machine.

Some ideas of what the problem may be (if you're certain the power supply is OK): faulty connection between power supply and motherboard; problems with the on/off switching on the motherboard; the computer/internet connection has been subject to a lightning hit or a mains power surge; components of the motherboard have failed (this is fairly common with capacitors - the effects on the machine vary enormously).

RAM problems do not normally manifest themselves in this way.
