MS Update Management

Instead of sending small patches, these days Microsoft sends several large MS updates all at once (for example, this Tuesday). With over 15,000 PCs, MS updates completely eat up all WAN bandwidth, both internally and externally.

I don't believe using WSUS is any better. It does not have Multicast capability. For example, a site has 100 PCs and all of them will have unicast traffic directly to the WSUS server. All available WAN bandwidth is used up.

Or, I can staging the update files at each local office thus saving the WAN bandwidth. However, with over 400 offices, it is not practical and defeats the purpose of centralized data center.

Any suggestion on efficiently deliver MS updates to 15,000 PCs over 400 offices (both within US and over SAT links)?
