Windows Installer Problems

I am having problems which seem to have just started. When I try to remove a programme in 'Add and Remove' I am told that 'Windows installer cannot be accessed. It is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel' I have also had some dounloads from Microsoft which get the same treatment. It seems that something has changed somewhere and I am unable to download updates. Would be very pleased if someone could help me!

Presumably you have all the necessary malware in position?

Thanks for that! Forgot to say that I am running Windows XP on broadband. Don't know whether that helps!

Thanks for that but it did not find anything so I wound back to the first of June but still no better. Most of the problems seem to be with Excel and SP1 See below. Thanks
