How to activate (or install) boot.ini ?

Hello, my pc start-up screen is off, how do I get it back with boot.ini ?

do [boot loader]

timeout=30

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS

[operating systems]

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professionnel" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

I have the XP CD with Key and that's all. No password.

And I can get inside Windows from Linux CD Live, but I can't re-install Linux because hard disk dammage or CD lens problem. So I cannot install Grub (boot.ini from Linux).

Is that highlighed text part of the boot.ini file?

What is your actual partition layout; do you have Windows installed somewhere? (Where is that boot.ini file located?)
